Day 2 - God is Holy & Worthy
Reading Passage: Psalm 16:3-4
Sometimes joy can come from being around people who also honor God and whose loyalty is found in the Lord! Have you noticed that in your own life?
God created mankind to bring Him glory and not ourselves or anyone else!
Living in the company of ones who were faithful believers brought David joy, while those who chased after and worshiped a plurality of other gods, were ones who were filled with sorrow.
Today we see how the Psalmist talked about how he delighted in the people who he spends time with because they were noble and godly. These people lived as God had called them… to be a holy nation (Exodus 19:6).
He says;
“As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones. All my delight is in them. The sorrows of those who take another god for themselves will multiply; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not speak their names with my lips.” Psalm 16:3-4, CSB
What kind of company brings you the most joy?____________________________
Exodus 19:6 says, “you will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites” (CSB).
God wanted the nation of Israel to be set apart and different from the other nations in the Old Testament. Read what God says about how the followers of Christ would bear the image of His holiness in the New Testament.
For he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love before him (Ephesians 1:4, CSB).
But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy (1 Peter 1:15-16, CSB).
What can we learn from these verses?___________________________________
God, you alone are holy and worthy of our worship. Help us to reflect your image and not chase after any other gods. Help us recognize when we attempt to delight in anyone besides You! Amen.
