Intro to 10 Minutes to Overcoming Anxiety

Let me first tell you how underqualified I feel to be writing this devotional. Like many of you, I’ve laid wide awake at night, sick with worry about something at work. I’ve spent my days obsessing over my kids and their well-being. I’ve been overwhelmed by anxiety from the weight of the evolving economy around us.

“Worry” sometimes feels like my middle name.

Have you been there too?

Plagued with anxiety.

Struck with fear.

Overwhelmed with worry.

No wonder “Do not fear” is one of the most repeated commands in the Bible! God needed to reiterate it over and over again for us to remember!

Anxiety can easily overtake our minds.

Thankfully nothing is a surprise to God and this is where God steps in to meet us.

It’s in our daily worry that we have an opportunity to meet God. Trust God. Take Him at His Word.

Did you know that God values us and will give peace to those who seek Him?

As we’ll discover this week in Matthew 6, we can get a whole lot of encouragement when we realize God’s view of us and His promise to care for His people. It’s through our relationship with Jesus Christ that we can find the freedom, hope, and peace that we worriers often crave.

Let us be the ones that seek His peace and find comfort in the God who can help us overcome anxiety.
